The Other Side – A Poem.

With each step away from home, the earth trembles and shrinks beneath,

A bold boot crosses the barrier of comfort to a realm unknown
The realities shift and realign,
a new world birthed from nothing.

A fresh smile beckons and ignites the soul,
immortal eyes welcome, holding universes undiscovered.
Ancient curiosity and understanding burst into life, souls connect in the exponential.

A colour, a taste, an aroma,
a conversation, a moral, a life
A cacophony of new possibilities, perspectives seen and believed.
None would even exist had a bold boot not crossed the                             precipice.

The mind and soul tumble and dance around like wine swirling inside a glass
Connections bound to natural things that previously had but one dimension,
Now worlds to be discovered, in and of themselves.

As birds and bats glide and soar above,
As fish and dolphin glide and soar below,
Discoveries are made by breaking through, knocking down, diving into, leaping over the
stolid
comfort
zone.

With each step away from home, the earth trembles and shrinks beneath,
Born are roads and rivers and forests and mountains
All now welcoming, broadening the horizon for a sunrise unseen.

The world is as big or as small as one assumes it should be,
As open or closed as a door with seven billion keys.
Come on through and join me on
the other
side.
